When did it happen?
I have somehow become a big, giant, pussy. I'm not sure when it happened, but I dont like it, not one little bit.....
This year I decided to go back and coach high school football after three years out of the game. Yesterday night was our first day of summer camp, we met from 5 - 7:30. It was hot. Africa hot. So there I am working with Defensive backs and Receivers... During the drills I have to throw the ball around a little, and I have a torn rotator cuff awaiting an appointment for an MRI. It hurt. I wanted to tough it out, but I threw likr Hairlipangler... a big sally. Then we get to defense, and I have to work with the players on back-peddling. So I demonstrate good form. I think I pulled my hamstring... but thats not even why I'm pissed.
I came home last night, hooked the boat up and set the alarm to go fishing. at 5:00 it went off and I sat up in bed, attempted to throw my legs off the side, only to find they weren't working properly. Something was drastically wrong with my back, arms, and neck as well. So, I flopped back over and said screw it. I'll go fishing tomorrow. I was too sore to go fishing? Hell, I've gone fishing with broken bones, stitches, and MAJOR hangovers... WTF happened to me?
I'm embarrassed by my actions, or should I say inactions... When a little activity make you to sore to go fishing, the end is not far. I have four more days of football this week. If I dont survive, speak kindly of me when I'm gone.

Re: When did it happen?
I have to laugh, not at your pain, but at how easily we hurt ourselves as we age. I hurt my neck getting out of the truck last week. Pitiful, really. At 48 I can still outwork my boys. I can't outdrink them, can't stay up as late or go without sleep like they can, but I put their skinny asses to shame on the jobsite. No, I don't carry sheetrock anymore, I don't hump material unless I have to, but the young ones haven't learned to pace themselves yet, they burn out early afternnon.
I'd try as hard as possible to stay in shape elkrun, you never know if you'll get it back if you lose it. It's a bitch! Stretching is vert important. But if I had to pick one thing that helps me make it through a tough day, it's my temprepedic.
And look here rubberarm, you couldn't throw like me on your best day. I can still hit 85 on the fastpitch radar, although the preperation and recouperation are a bit different now. Good luck.

HLA, you couldn't touch 85 on a radar gun if you were driving!
Got back from practice tonight, threw much better, but feel worse. Its hotter than hell out there! I musta drank two gallons of water today, and I still feel dehydrated. I'm setting the alarm, hopefully, the legs will swing off the side of the bed. I gotta go fishing, hard to stare at that water all day, knowing there are fish, but not getting out.

Sounds like you should do more flyfishing you pansy-ass girlboy...and consider coaching bowling or shuffleboard, sports that are more age appropriate.
Fish on...

Re: When did it happen?
Todd- I'd try for golf but about three people need to die before that sucker will open up! I'd do cross country... if they'd give me a golf cart.
HLA- Thats more like it!
I did make it out today! caught lots of fish.. a couple nice kings with fins and too many pinks to count. Had to change locations a couple times to get away from them. Saw a couple whales too. My buddie got a 42# and a 28# that were finless. I just seem to draw the ones with an extra fin.
