I got a 727c humminbird that has a mind of it's own lately. (only 2 years old!) Last March, I went out to Hood Canal, and it started screwing up...like working correctly, then suddenly it shows 1.7 feet deep and a blackout screen, then it'll start working again sometime later. A pain if you're trolling in unfamiliar areas. It works for the most part on Tapps, but not 100%.... but when I'm in the salt, it doesn't work very well at all. Is it the transducer? or in the unit itself? I'm fed ...

I would be interested in what you guys & gals think, I have a 16' boat that had an 85hp (old style) on it and I was debating about puting a newer (2strk) 75ish Merc (I have) on it and running it til I maybe could move up to an aluminum. Also been thinking of puting a new Yamaha on it, if I do that, it will be long time til I can replace the entire boat. So it's new motor now and wait a long time to get a new(er) aluminum boat or stay with the older rig until a newer boat shows it self?

Well the day is finally here, the jet boat repair saga has a happy ending!!!!!!!!!

My last post listed some new hurdles that I had encountered while servicing this 21 foot jet boat with the 351 Windsor powered Kodiak jet pump. The manifolds had freeze cracked and the power valve had gone bad in the Holley carb that was on this boat. I sent the carb to a buddy of mine that is really good with them, I rebuild carbs ALL THE TIME but, I don't do Holleys!!! I bought a new set of OSCO brand exhaust ...

Well I finished reassembling the jet pump and reinstalling the motor and backed the boat into the water at the boat ramp for a test run and adjust. I fired it up and checked the timing, 8deg. BTDC---- PERFECT!

The boat seemed to be running a little rich so I went to adjust the mixture on the carb, the more I closed the mixture screws the better it ran, when I closed them completely it was running great! That means 1 of 2 things, either the jets in the carb are too big or the carb needs to be ...

It wouldn't turn over cause both batteries, the battery switch, and the starter solenoid were shot, got that all taken care of now she cranks like new.

"So last friday out on the skagit my kicker, '05 Yami F8, starting acting funny and then eventually died. After pumping the bulb a few times it will start and idle, but then dies as soon as I put it into gear or rev it up. I'm thinking hopefully just maybe a fuel filter but maybe a fuel pump??? Anyone have any advice or an opinion??"

Yoru float in the carb is either sunk or the needle and seat is stuck. Simple fix. Let me know if ya need help :60:

I haven't build my barn yet, so in the meantime my boat sits out and takes a beating.. It's started snowing and I've already had one insurance claim in the boat when the snow snapped the poles in the canopy a couple years back. Now I run a space heater in it when it stars snowing, seems to keep the build up down. I'd rather have the barn built.

OK, I do use my boat during the winter. I could go crabbing on a moments notice, and I will chase blackmouth in February. However, I would like to take some precautions. I did run windshield antifreeze into my washdown kit already. I stripped the electronics off, and got the cover on. I run the motors about every two weeks, and ALWAYS let the water drain all the way out afterwards.

I am concerned about the electronics. It seems every year after the winter, I have some type of electrical ...

Need help with kicker bracket

My new T8 needs the kicker bracket to move out 3" so it is just over the end of the deck. If I add a longer 1/4 plate under the bracket and then move the bracket to the end of the plate so it's just past the end of the deck, would the plate need to be welded or will bolting it on be enough?

Does anyone know a good welded if needed, or where to get a good price on a plate of 3/8" Aluminum?

Thanks

-Rory

I got my boat back yesterday from being painted, Geo does great work and is very knowledgeable about painting boats.

The camera does not capture the true color, it's a darker sea blue/green than the pictures show.

I also picked up an 05 Ford 150 to pull it.

I still can't get the hang of posting pics?? I start with the host a pic icon, then what? if you upload it all goes away, if you copy one of the 3 lines, it also goes away, so I highlite and copy the bottom of the 3, and then ...
