TR 1 Gold Auto pilot
TR 1 Gold Auto pilot
Well I just got the TR 1 coming in the mail today with the actuator hook up and the throttle control has anyone here ever installed one from start to finish. I hear that they are real easy to install but some first hand advice would be great. I will be putting this on my new 24' nothrth river am I going to have to buy a bunch of wire to get all the way to the bow with the gyro?

Well last night I started installing the TR-1, it is pretty easy as far as putting the throttle bracket on the motor and putting on the actuator mount and actuator. The only hard part of the engine hook up is rounting the throttle actuator cable out of the motor, there is just not room at all to put that connector through the cowling where the other wires run through but it can be done with some prying!

I don't know about for ling fishing but I do know that it will be sweet for salmon fishing and halibut! I can't wait to get it all done. It is only going to take about an hour to finish the rest of the install. The boat is built with so much in mind for doing stuff like this that it is super easy to run wires and install anything that you want. I trolled with it when we went for halibut and that worked pretty sweet with 3 down riggers but it will even be better with the tr 1

yea, they are the perfect auto troller ... but I am thinking of how it could be used to guide around all the rocks too :92: Is the gold GPS enabled?

it is if you buy the hook up but that is another couple hundred bucks I am not ready to spend, I have been reading a lot on it and that gps hook up seems to be a pain in the ass. I will use the big motor most of the time when i am fishing lings. there is just not enough power to get out of a bad place fast with the TR-1

Well as far as the install goes for the TR-1 it was super simple all the directions were easy to follow with pictures. If i were to guess how long it took to install start to finigh about 3 hours, all that is left to do know is take it out on the water for a 5 min compass cal and all will be done and ready to fish!

That should be really great Don, I'm sure you'll really enjoy it, that boat of yours looks like a real salt water fishing machine :17:
