Ouch. I almost bought one at the time. After seeing some of the recent announcements they make me wonder what is really up with that company.

The delorean of boats maybe?

Now I don't understand why you all would get out of your north river just because they might be in trouble? That is the best damn aluminum boat made in america reguardless of what is going on with the company. Yeah it sucks for the waranty work on the hull but the rest like motors still have their warantees. You all are making way to much of this I think.

There wont be anyone around to do warranty work on them. I agree they are good boats but that is not the issue. They still break.

You are right there but there hull waranty is only good for 5 years and no transferable, so I guess those of us that can weld are good to go and those that are not are going to put money into the econemy

Hey,this is Rick,I'm Big Guys brother.

I've been a member for a couple months but haven't posted until now.

This thing about North River going out of business is getting blown out of proportion. Any aluminum boat can break a weld. The good news is that there are a ton of shops that can easily weld it back up. I might (insurance) have to pay for the repair, but its not like if something happens to my boat I'll have to sell it for scrap.

A lot of people thought enough of North River boats to shell out a ton of dough for one. Now all of a sudden there are people thinking of jumping ship to a different brand. Why? Is anyone really stupid enough to buy a boat strictly because of a warranty? I sure as hell didn't. I bought a North River because of its features, craftsmanship and reputation.

I had an Alumaweld proir to my Seahawk. I looked at Intruders when I upgraded. I got considerably more for less when I went North River.

I'll tell you how worried I am about my hull warranty if NR goes tits up. Having had a boat from both brands,I'd rather have my North River with NO hull warranty than my Super Vee with a lifetime warranty.
