Kicker motor...

Post by BIG GUY on 17th March 2009, 8:54 am

After looking at kren's photo in the blackmouth thread, I'm thinking about switching my kicker over to that side of the boat. I think I would would be more comfortable sitting in the center of the boat since I prefer to run the kicker with my left hand.

Do any of you guy's have a preferce on one side or the other, or it doesn't matter to you?

Mine is always on the port side of the boat since I am left handed .....

why not hook the two motors up together so they can be steered with the wheel? That's how my boat is configured.

it's for people who are inclined to steer from the front of the boat, seated.

the only reason i have the kicker on the port side of my hewes is to balance the weight, if i had an open boat i would have it on the Starboard side so i could run it with my right hand.

I'd love to sit up front while trolling, but I don't think they have a thingamajiggy that'll let you do that with a kicker to an I/O jet...so, it's on the port side because that's the way Northriver set it up...opposite the driver for weight distribution I guess. If anyone ever constructs one of those, let me know!

My motors are always deployed on both sides of my boats Smile

'Course, they take a little more effort to run than the usual kicker motor...but get waaaaayyyy better gas mileage Smile

My wife doesn't fish, and none of my girlfriends like powerboats...they can't hear themselves talk over 'em.

Fish on...
