the Sportjet is and always will be the GREATEST engine pump combo ever put together. People will talk their shit but nobody will put a system that kicks ass like a sportjet again.

I was just curious. After working on this jet boat and talking to all of you guys on this and the other site I joined a "Jet Boat Forum" just to gather intel into the world and physche of the jet boater..
I have read a little about these Sportjets on there and have never seen one so I just wondered how good they were.

There used to be this dude named "SportJet" who posted on these boards...but that guy was kind of a tool, Chuck's waaaayyy smarter.

OB - a sportjet is basically an outboard mounted as an inboard and mated to the pump. What is different is that a Sportjet runs on pressure and not volume as most pumps do. This allows is to spool quickly and run faster rpms for speed which is what they are best at. The one downfall to pressure over volume is they are weight sensitive and when you start packing large weight in the boat it impacts the top end quite a bit where a volume pump can overcome that.
If you youtube most of the shallow water jet boat vids they are all running sportjets due to power to weight ratio.....

Went open bow, no windshield. Was thinking about center console and sportjet but the 200 was cheaper in the end

I new they were an O.B. power head, I just wondered how well they worked.
I have an acquaintance who was building a jet sled, he bought a 2.5 liter EFI Merc power head and was mating it to an Italian made Custolli jet pump. According to him the Custolli was the best pump ever made!!!
