Here we go again!! (Awww F*CK part 2)
Well I finished reassembling the jet pump and reinstalling the motor and backed the boat into the water at the boat ramp for a test run and adjust. I fired it up and checked the timing, 8deg. BTDC---- PERFECT!
The boat seemed to be running a little rich so I went to adjust the mixture on the carb, the more I closed the mixture screws the better it ran, when I closed them completely it was running great! That means 1 of 2 things, either the jets in the carb are too big or the carb needs to be rebuilt, typical Holley Carb.
Next I reached over to feel the exhaust manifold to see that they were cooling properly and saw something really bad!!
The exhaust manifolds are "Freeze Cracked" both manifolds are going to have to be replaced. I found OSCO replacement manifolds for about $500.00 a pair boy have they come down in price!!!! They were $1200.00 per pair back in the early 90's!!
I am starting to feel bad every time I call the owner to tell him, " I've got some bad news"

I just got off the phone with the customer, he said, "I appreciate the good work your doing, lets go ahead and get'er all fixed up, I will be by tomorrow with my check book and we will order the parts!!"
The manifolds are not direct replacement for Kodiak but, they will work fine. I will post some pictures of the manifolds and any mods required when I am finished for any one that wants to see.
I will let you all know how round three goes..

Well I found the manifolds and risers in stock locally for $600.00 only $100 more than if i order them. I would like to see the customer go local in case we have any issues it is easier to get help when you don't have to ship the parts back across the country. Besides if we buy locally he can have his boat back all finished by the end of the week!!!!
