boat tabs....

Post by ChuckS on 2nd April 2009, 8:14 am

I think I just bought some new bricks for Olympia.

My tabs for boat this year rocketing upward??????????? Now $194?

Of that $172 goes to general fund? I am sure that is going to help out the fisheries :22:

This state ... good grief. :26:

Why did you buy your boat tabs now Chuck?

They're not due until the end of June.

Boat tab fees NEVER went to fisheries enhancements.

Let us know what the outcome of your phone call was too... would ya? Wink

And here is the breakdown. Left a voice mail for the auditor to call me. I am hoping someone made a mistake. EIther that or I should at least get a chance to smile while being raped.

The tabs for my Seahawk are about $175. I think the tabs for the Lund were about $25.

I don't ever recall them going up in price.

The key to paying less in tab fees is to have the dealer write up separate transactions at the time of purchase if you financed it yourself or paid cash. Boat, motor, trailer. They base the tab fees on the boat's value and age I believe? Your boat must be pretty new Chuck and still worth a lot for you to be paying that high of a fee.

Thats where I screwed up Webo - they wrote it as a package so the state thinks my 06 boat is worth 33K!

I call a call back today and the guy was actually very polite. wouldnt promise anything but is taking it to his boss for review. Said not to purchase tabs as he will try to get a realistic value assessed to it (approx 25K) and that will drop them down and they will reprint the registration.

Fingers crossed....
