Boat Re-power?

Post by Rd on 14th July 2009, 11:40 pm

I would be interested in what you guys & gals think, I have a 16' boat that had an 85hp (old style) on it and I was debating about puting a newer (2strk) 75ish Merc (I have) on it and running it til I maybe could move up to an aluminum. Also been thinking of puting a new Yamaha on it, if I do that, it will be long time til I can replace the entire boat. So it's new motor now and wait a long time to get a new(er) aluminum boat or stay with the older rig until a newer boat shows it self?

Maybe a full tune and service on the existing motor so that it runs good for your use and so it will sell when the new boat arrives...

Just had the Merc worked on and it's runin good. How do you feel about working on OMC I/Os? I do have a Johnson 50hp that I really should junk, but hate to . it needs pistons, crank and bearings, I bought it and it ran for about 20 minutes . the guy I bought it from, I'll bet he laughted all the way to the bank.
